The Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation has unveiled its Volumetric Capture Studio (VCS), a major development in the field of 3D content creation. This advanced studio is the result of a collaborative effort between Sony Electronics, GeniusXR, and the Levan Center of Innovation, heralding a new chapter in immersive storytelling.
Sony Electronics plays a crucial role in this initiative, providing the VCS with its sophisticated camera technology essential for producing high-quality content. GeniusXR contributes its expertise in XR content and software to the project, working alongside Sony. This installation at the Levan Center of Innovation marks the second North American venture into volumetric studios for both GeniusXR and Sony, following their initial project at College D’Alma in Northeast Canada.
Our CEO, Azad Abbasi, highlights the studio's significant impact on the landscape of immersive content creation. He emphasizes the endless possibilities it offers for creators in various industries, underpinned by the use of advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence to forge compelling experiences in the metaverse. This collaboration with the Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation and Sony demonstrates their joint dedication to advancing the realms of Virtual and Augmented Reality.
Adding to the enthusiasm, Anthony Guidry, Sony Electronics product manager, states: “We are thrilled to be a part of this groundbreaking project with the Levan Center of Innovation and GeniusXR. VCS is a testament to our dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology and creativity, and this partnership allows us to expand the horizons of how this transformative technology can be used.”
The Volumetric Capture Studio within the Levan Center of Innovation is a technological feat, boasting a 5-meter diameter dome outfitted with advanced Sony cameras and 70 lighting panels. This collaborative project is set to revolutionize the way immersive 3D content is experienced, distinguishing itself as one of the few community-accessible studios of its kind in North America.
